Hand Rejuvenation

Improve the texture of your hand’s skin using an injectable filler.

Hand Rejuvenation

This is a procedure to improve the texture of a person's skin on the hands using an injectable filler. The appointment takes about an hour. First the hands are topically numbed using a tetracaine lidocaine combination gel. This gel will sit on your hands for about 30 minutes. After the hands are numbed, then we use an injectable filler called Restylane which also contains a numbing agent. The Restylane, a hyaluronic acid substance, will be injected into the areas of concern and then the patient may experience swelling of the hands for 24 hours. We ask patients not to increase their heart rates above baseline levels for 24 to 48 hours once the filler has been placed. This will help reduce the swelling. The doctor or experienced nurse injector administers the filler into the hand and then massages the filler into place. This particular filler sparks the body to produce collagen around the filler product to give a smoother appearance to the hands and also add volume to thinning hands. This hand rejuvenation procedure will improve the skin tone and texture on the hands. After the body produces collagen, after 6-7 weeks, then the filler product starts to dissolve. The end-result is that the patient keeps the new collage that was produced. Patients are eligible for re-treatment after 1 year which can further make the hands more plump, smooth and even-toned. .

Side Effects

  1. Hand swelling is commonn so we recommend reduced hand activity and exercise for 24-48 hours. This is fairly common since we all tend to use our hands so much all day.

  2. Patients can return to work immediately unless their activity involves significant physical activity

  3. If a patient does not like the new appearance, any hyaluronic acid product is dissolvable with solutions we have in the office. This would be very very rare.
