Vbeam Instructions
Pre-Treatment:
- Avoid tanning, direct sun exposure, and tanning beds in the treatment area 4-6 weeks before treatment
- Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 daily
- Avoid alcohol and Aspirin for 3 days before treatment to reduce swelling
Side Effects:
Side effects vary by individual and treatment intensity.
- Swelling: Most noticeable the morning after treatment, particularly under the eyes. This may last 2-3 days. To minimize swelling:
- Apply cold compresses for 10 minutes every hour
- Sleep elevated the first night with extra pillows
- Take antihistamines (Claritin or Zyrtec) for 5 days
- Redness: Typically will fade within the first few hours after treatment, but a rosy “glow” can last for weeks. You can apply makeup immediately after treatment to minimize redness.
- Pain: You may take Tylenol if needed for pain relief
- Crusting/Scabbing: If crusts or scabs form, allow them to fall off naturally. Keep the area moist and do not pick at the area.
Post-Treatment:
- For 2 days post-treatment, avoid hot tubs, saunas, and strenuous activities that may heat up the skin
- Skin Care Products: Use only non-irritating and non-clogging products for the first week. Avoid scrubs, toners, glycolic acid, retinoids (Retin-A), and bleaching creams (hydroquinone) until your skin has completely healed.
- Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 daily. You should apply 20 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours.
- If you must be in the sun, wear a hat and cover the treated area(s).
- Use this regimen during the healing period and going forward!
